    Abstract:

Introduction. Hospital Information System (HIS) is a modular system for managing medical, administrative, logistical and financial aspects of the hospital. The aim of this study was to determine whether physical therapists use HIS in their daily work and how satisfied they are with it. Methods. The study was conducted with a questionnaire on a sample of 112 physical therapists. The questionnaire had 4 parts: demographics; possession of computers at the workplace and use of the HIS; eight “yes” and “no” questions about HIS; questions about satisfaction with design, visibility, overall orientation in the program and the availability of the information. Results. Of all 112, 61(54%) of surveyed physical therapists use HIS (WinBIS In2 Group). One third of physical therapists has expressed their satisfaction with design and visibility. Respondents agree that HIS helps them in their daily work, with a grade point “4” awarded by 23(38%) participants. One third of participants believe that HIS does not take a considerable amount of time at work and accelerates processes in the hospital system, but slightly more than one third (39%) have a neutral attitude. More than half of respondents believe that HIS is useful to the hospital personnel. Conclusion. The examination of the physical therapists’ opinion on the satisfaction of the use of HIS was evaluated with an average grade, which is an indication that they are neither satisfied nor dissatisfied with the existing solution in hospitals and that it is necessary to make application solutions adapted to physiotherapists.
