Abstract:
The nursing image has changed with the development of the nursing profession, technology, and the world at large, affecting nursing students and their understanding of nursing and their own image. The main aim of this study was to test the differences in opinions among nursing students in the first, second, and third year of full-time and part-time studies at the Faculty of Health Studies in Rijeka.
Out of a total of 225 nursing students, 132 students were involved in the study. The participants included 71 full-time and 61 part-time students. According to the year of study, 22 first-year, 23 second-year, and 26 third-year full-time students were surveyed. Additionally, 9 first-year, 24 second-year, and 28 third-year part-time students were surveyed.
The respondents answered questions about their attitudes toward nursing and the nurse’s image through an anonymous questionnaire.
Research has shown that there is no significant difference in the attitudes of students regarding the type of study (full-time or part-time) and year of study. The results indicated almost identical attitudes among all students toward the given statements. Furthermore, the research demonstrated that nursing students have predominantly positive attitudes toward nursing and their own image, which provides an encouraging outlook for future nurses and the development of nursing as a profession.
