Abstract:
Ethics is one of the defining factors of every profession, including midwifery. Midwives face numerous ethical issues in their daily practice. Their relationships with pregnant women, mothers and children, fellow midwives, and gynecological patients are complex, requiring them to possess the skills and knowledge to act ethically. Today, the approach to bioethical issues is multidisciplinary. In perinatal medicine, gynecology, and obstetrics, ethical considerations involve not only health professionals but also the client/patient and her family, with significant attention given to the rights of the fetus. Therefore, this paper highlights that midwifery ethics is essential not only for shaping midwifery as a well-rounded profession but also as the foundation for establishing proper relationships with clients and their families, ensuring adequate healthcare delivery in everyday midwifery practice.
