Abstract:
The increase in frequency of chronic non-contagious diseases is the cause of the scientists’ ever increasing interest in promoting the implementation of regular physical activity and proper nutrition, especially when children and young people are concerned, in order to gain positive life habits from the early stage of life. Physical activity is the main link in health preservation and improvement, mental and cognitive capacities improvement and sport spirit development. Due to health prevention and improvement, human body needs continuous movement from childhood to old age. Unfortunately, at present, physical activity is insufficient and eating habits are poor. Along with insufficient physical activity, the cause of non-contagious chronical diseases is an improper diet which as a consequence can provoke diabetes, cardiovascular diseases, osteoporosis, obesity, as well as malignant diseases. Properly balanced nutrition and adequate physical activity can preserve and improve our health. The scope of this research has been to prove that persons who perform their physical activity regularly are more careful when choosing the type of food – therefore feed themselves more properly. The research has included 100 respondents, 60 women and 40 men, at the age of 20 to 35. The results obtained show that persons regularly physically active, rarely choose fast high calorie food and give advantage to proper and balanced nutrition, which, as a result, gives a normal body mass index.
